After Installation

After you installed RIACase you can access it using any web browser. RIACase requires that Flash Player 11.1 or newer is installed in the browser. If you have installed RIACase under the virtual directory “riacase” you can access it on the machine where it is installed as http://localhost/riacase

To access RIACase from a remote computer you need to use the network name of the computer where you installed it (e.g. http://server.mycompany.com/riacase).

Logging in for the first time

When you access RIACase you will be prompted for thelogin and password. New installations of RIACase come with one built-in user account having login Admin and password admin. This user has full administrative rights to the RIACase system. We recommend you to login and change the password for user Admin immediately after installation.

Configuring backup settings

After logging in go to Settings view and ensure that the backup directory is correctly configured.

Note: it is the responsibility of the system administrator to verify that automatic backups are taking place and are healthy. See Backup section below.

Setting up users

Now go to the Users view and add the user details for each person that will be accessing RIACase system. Make sure you select the appropriate role for the each person.

There are 3 built-in roles predefined. You can add new roles or change the rights for the predefined roles using User Roles view.

Configuring automated runs

RIACase can call RIATest to perform automated testing of test cases if you have automated test scripts. To configure RIACase to perform automated testing you need to create a task in Windows Task Scheduler. How to do this is described below.

If you installed RIACase using the automatic installer

A scheduled task named RIACASE_AUTO_RUNNER should be already created, however you need to adjust a few settings. Open the Windows Task Scheduler and double click on task RIACASE_AUTO_RUNNER.
You need to select the user account that will be used to perform automated runs. Click “Change User or Group” button in the “When running the task, use the following user account” section and select an appropriate user, then select “Run only when user is logged on” option:

Note: RIATest can perform automated testing only if the user is logged in to the system and has the necessary access rights and privileges to perform GUI testing.
Go to Settings tab, check “If the task fails, restart every” option and set it to every “1 hour” for “999” times. Then uncheck the “Stop the task if it runs longer than” option and click OK:

If you installed RIACase manually

Create a scheduled task to run the following command on logon: “C:\Program Files\PHP\php.exe” with argument “C:\inetpub\wwwroot\riacase\library\schrunner.php”:

Set the scheduled task to trigger at log on:

Select the user account that will be used to perform automated runs. Go to the General tab and click “Change User or Group” button in the “When running the task, use the following user account” section and select an appropriate user, then select “Run only when user is logged on” option:

Note: RIATest can perform automated testing only if the user is logged in to the system and has the necessary access rights and privileges to perform GUI testing.

Go to Settings tab, check “If the task fails, restart every” option and set it to every “1 hour” for “999” times. Then uncheck the “Stop the task if it runs longer than” option and click OK:
